SUPPORT OUR TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN CLICK THE FOLLOWING LINK TO READ A GREAT ARTICLE BY MICHAEL YON http://www.michaelyon-online.com/valentine-s-day-weekend-afghanistan.htm OUR MILITARY MEDICS AND NURSES ARE UP TO THE TASK IN AFGHANISTAN...AS USUAL. GOD BLESS EM ALL!
November 14, 2009 Special Notice: While listening to a local newsradio broadcast this afternoon, I heard an unbelievable news item at 2pm. The newscaster stated that the Obama administration is blocking the results of the lawsuit filed against the government of Lebanon for their bloody involvement in the October 23, 1983 bombing of the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut Lebanon. In other words, the families of the slain and wounded Marines will get nothing...not even justice...from the pain and sorrow imposed upon them by the fanatical jihadists and madmen in the middle-east who hate America and it's military. Obviously the Obama administration is on the side of the "bad guys" in the middle-east once again. This is the ultimate in appeasement posturing. I suggest that ALL United States Military personnel dig into this unsettling announcement and draw your own conclusions as to whether our "Appeaser in Chief" has our military's best interests in his heart. Semper Fi!
WE PROUDLY SUPPORT OUR TROOPS STATIONED AROUND THE GLOBE !
OUR PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE SLAIN AND WOUNDED AT FORT HOOD ON NOVEMBER 5, 2009. AND WE ALSO PRAY FOR THE FAMILIES OF THOSE FALLEN WARRIORS.
A VERY SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO FORT HOOD POLICE OFFICER AND ARMY VET KIMBERLY BARBOUR MUNLEY WHO DID WHAT SHE WAS TRAINED TO DO IN A MOMENT OF ULTIMATE STRESS. HER BRAVE ACTIONS KEPT THE TRAGEDY FROM BEING MUCH WORSE.
WE ARE PROUD TO SAY THAT OFFICER MUNLEY IS A US ARMY VET, AND HER HUSBAND IS AN ARMY MAN STATIONED AT FORT BRAGG, NORTH CAROLINA. GOD BLESS KIMBERLY MUNLEY!

-REMEMBER EVERY WARRIOR WHO GAVE ALL- MAMBO ARTS TODAY MILITARY SUPPORT PAGE I am really gung-ho and patriotic when it comes to supporting our military service men and women. It matters not whether they are serving stateside, overseas, in combat "hot" zones, or if they are retired veterans. Mambo Arts Today will always be first in line to support our troops 24 / 7 / 365. That especially goes for veterans with disabilities, military police, and closest to my heart and soul, the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS. Semper Fi, Til I Die, baby! To that end I am going to make this page sort of an improvisational part of the Mambo Arts Today website that will present a wide variety of topics and articles devoted to one thing only...bring to the forefront as much about US military info as I can. I have devoted another page on this website to USMC only material. This is not meant as a slight to the other branches of US Military service. For example, on this initial entry I am going to list a few good books that every patriotic American reader of this webpage should purchase for their teenage kids ( you are teaching them well, aren't you??? ) who have perhaps had a chance to join a high school or university R.O.T.C. unit ( if they can find one on todays "pansified" and "politically correct" campuses ), and are considering taking the next big step and doing something positive for their country besides partying, getting high, chasing the opposite sex for sport, and generally wasting valuable time with slackers and ne'er do wells in their same age group. The concerned and watchful parent should offer the following books to their budding warriors once it becomes apparent that they have seriously decided to become an American Patriot who is willing to give at least a few years of commitment to the defense of this great nation that we live in. ******************************************************************************************* CHECK OUT THE FOLLOWING FILM CLIP-"A FIGHT FOR THE TROOPS" NOW THAT YOU HAVE SEEN THE "FIGHT FOR THE TROOPS" CLIP, VISIT THIS LINK TO "RANGERUP.COM" FOR MORE INFO ON THE FILM PROJECT. ******************************************************************************************************************* ************************************************************************************************************** *************************************************************************************************************** You should also take some time and visit Sgt. Michael Volkin's excellent website, http://www.ultimatebasictraining.com/ , where you will find an in-depth overview of his two books mentioned above. Sgt. Volkin's site will offer the serious American Patriot a portal into audio and visual higher military education via what he calls the " basic training university." I highly recommend it for both future recruits and their parents. Superb is the operant word. The info on Sgt. Volkins website and in his excellent publications is the ultimate first step / first building block / cornerstone for successful entry into any branch of the military services. This is preparation for the perceptive. ***************************************************************************************** There is another website for military enlistment preparation that I highly recommend. It is http://www.stewsmith.com Mr. Smith is a former Navy Seal, and he has put together a wide ranging library of books, downloadable ebooks, and other military enlistment preparation tools that will really open your eyes as well as increase your knowledge regarding what it takes to be a modern warrior within the United States military arena. I will be offering some of his products here on the Mambo Arts Today website in the very near future. If you visit his site and can't wait to order something, just remember to mention that you were referred to his site and services by Mambo arts Today and Herb April. More Mambo Arts Today Military material coming soon...Herb April-03/25/09...Semper Fidelis! ******************************************************************************************************************************************* MILITARY LINKS YOU SHOULD VISIT WHEN YOU HAVE THE TIME: ******************************************************************************************************************************************* *I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE A GOOD FUTURE FOR OUR MILITARY SERVICES UNDER THE COMMAND OF BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT HE AND HIS NEO-CLINTON RE-TREAD CABINET, SECRETARY OF STATE HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON ( WHY WON'T THOSE CLINTON PEOPLE JUST GO AWAY...FAR, FAR AWAY ), NANCY PELOSI, HARRY REID, AND THE DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY ARE GOING TO REDUCE MILITARY FUNDING SO THAT THEY CAN LINE THEIR POCKETS AND FUND SOCIALIST PROGRAMS FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA. HERE WE FIND OURSELVES WITH THE WACKO LEADER OF NORTH KOREA LAUNCHING TEST BALLISTIC MISSILES ON A REGULAR BASIS, AND OPENLY STATING THAT HE IS DEVELOPING WEAPONS GRADE PLUTONIUM THAT HE PLANS TO SELL TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER ( I.E., TERRORIST ). SO WHAT DOES "THE ONE" DO IN RESPONSE? HE DOES WHAT HE DOES BEST, TALK. AND HE TAKES OVER 1 BILLION DOLLARS OUT OF OUR CURRENT MISSLE DEFENSE SYSTEMS. HE HAS TO FUND HIS "CIVILIAN NATIONAL DEFENSE" FORCE ( FARCE, ? ) IN SOME WAY, EH? LET'S SEE, WE ( THE TAXPAYERS ) HAVE TO BAIL OUT WALL STREET, WE ARE BEING ASKED TO BAIL OUT THE HOPELESS AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY, AND NOW EVEN "AVIS RENT-A-CAR" IS BESEECHING THE GOVERNMENT FOR A BAIL OUT / HANDOUT. IT APPEARS THAT THE DEMOCRATS CAN'T WAIT TO PULL OUR TROOPS OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST SO THAT THEY CAN POCKET WHAT WOULD NORMALLY BE SPENT ON MILITARY EXPENDITURES. ALL IN THE NAMES OF JOBS, HOPE, AND CHANGE. THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE OBVIOUS THREAT OF FUNDAMENTALIST FANATICAL JIHADISTS AND THE TALIBAN WHO ARE JUST LICKING THEIR CHOPS THINKING ABOUT HOW THEY ARE GOING TO LOOT, PILLAGE, AND HIJACK IRAQ THE MINUTE OBAMA PULLS OUR TROOPS OUT. IMAGINE YOURSELF AMONGST A GATHERING OF US TROOPS AT ATTENTION BECAUSE THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF, BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IS LANDING ON AIR FORCE ONE. YOU WILL HAVE TO STAND AT FULL BRACE ATTENTION AND SALUTE "PRESIDENT" OBAMA OR RISK SEVERE REPRIMAND AND PERHAPS SOME BRIG TIME IF YOU DON'T. WHAT WOULD BE GOING THROUGH YOUR MIND. hEY, HE IS THE "COMMANDER IN CHIEF. SO, LETS SEE WHAT WDA JIVE TALKING POLITICAL POSEUR LIKE OBAMA IS THE "COMMANDER IN CHIEF," JOE BIDEN IS HIS COURT JESTER...WHOOPS...MAKE THAT "VICE PRESIDENT / SECOND BANANA," HILLARY CLINTON IS SECRETARY OF STATE, AND THE REST OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ( HEADED BY THE UNCTIOUS RAHM EMMANUEL ) FOLLOWS HIM LIKE TROLLS AFTER A SELF PROCLAIMED WIZARD. YOU HAVE TO STAND AT ATTENTION AND SALUTE THE ENTIRE CIRCUS ENTOURAGE. TOUGH JOB, SOLDIER...TOUGH JOB...STAY STRONG DEAR WARRIORS, YOU WILL ONLY HAVE TO SERVE THAT BAND OF SOCIALIST, LEFT WING, POLITICOS FOR FOUR YEARS.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ April 10, 2009 - The publishers ultra-brief rumination on the most recent gaffes by our newly elected "commander in chief," Barack Hussein Obama. Mr. Obama and his wife recently visited europe and A) both he and his wife appeared to give a "Chicago Street Frisk" to the Queen of England, B) he actually bowed in "respect" ( ...perhaps more likely "reverence" in my opinion ) to the King of Saudi Arabia, and C) he gives a speech apologizing to all the world for what he calls "America's arrogance." Those three things are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the way Mr. Obama is belittling both the office of the presidency, and this great country of ours, on a daily basis whenever he has the chance. I always believed that our presidents really loved the country that they were elected to govern. However, I now realize that Barack Hussein Obama DOES NOT LOVE THIS COUNTRY OR ITS CITIZENRY ( ...except, of course, ...oh, well, you already know who he loves the most ). Therefore, what do you think he feels in his heart for our beloved military services? It isn't love my warrior friends. To him you are just useful tools that he will do his best to "neuter," weaken, and replace with his "National Civilian Security Force." It is clear that, like most of those on the far-left end of the political spectrum in this country, Mr. Obama both despises and finds "distasteful" the military ( and by extension-law enforcement ) except when he can use the military for his own ends. He is just another empty suit, but one who has been elected by this country's "sheep" ( who are beginning to realize that he is neither the "Messiah" or a contemproray Moses who will lead us all into world peace, world unity, and a planet free of nuclear weapons. It is going to be a rough ride for the rest of his term in office...a really rough ride indeed! When he enters into "cool conversations" with Raul Castro, Fidel Castro, and Hugo Chavez, it will be time to really worry. He is quite simply a man who is out of his league when it comes to being the President of the United States of America or of being the "Commander in Chief" of our beloved Armed Forces. Hell, if it were up to Obama, he would probably scrap the USO! I think I know what General George Patton would think of Barack Hussein Obama, president of the United States of America. *PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO VIEW THE VIDEO THAT THE FOLLOWING LINK WILL TAKE YOU TO: THE HORROR! ************************************************************************************************************************************************* PASSINGS April 6, 2009 RUSSELL DUNHAM / 1920-2009
April 10, 2009
Russell Dunham, Hero in 1945, Dies at 89 Russell Dunham, who as an Army sergeant in World War II received the Medal of Honor for charging up a snowy hill in the Alsace region of France and single-handedly killing, wounding or capturing 18 German soldiers, died Monday in Godfrey, Ill. He was 89. The cause was congestive heart failure, said his daughter, Mary Lee Neal. On the afternoon of Jan. 8, 1945, Sergeant Dunham was leading a platoon in the 30th Infantry, Third Infantry Division, when the soldiers, among them his brother Ralph, were pinned down by German fire. They were at the bottom of a hill near the village of Kaysersberg, the birthplace of the Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Albert Schweitzer. German machine-gunners and riflemen fired down on the Americans while an artillery barrage landed behind them. “The only way to go was up,” Mr. Dunham told Reader’s Digest long afterward. Wearing as camouflage a white robe made from a mattress cover, Sergeant Dunham ran up the hill ahead of his platoon and charged a machine-gun emplacement. He was shot in the back, and his camouflage became useless: his white clothing was soaked with blood. Despite “excruciating pain” from his wound, as the Medal of Honor citation told it, Sergeant Dunham wiped out three machine-gun nests and attacked German riflemen in foxholes. Moments later, Ralph Dunham destroyed a fourth machine-gun position. Firing 175 rounds of carbine fire and throwing 11 grenades, Russell Dunham killed nine Germans, wounded seven and captured two others. Two weeks later, his battalion was surrounded by German tanks at the French town of Holtzwihr. Most of the men were forced to surrender, but as Mr. Dunham told it to Peter Collier in his book “Medal of Honor,” he hid in a sauerkraut barrel outside a barn. He was discovered by two German soldiers the next morning, but while searching him they found a pack of cigarettes in his pocket and began to fight over it. They never noticed a pistol in a shoulder holster under Sergeant Dunham’s arm. While the Germans were taking him toward their lines, one of them stopped at a bar. Sergeant Dunham shot and killed the other soldier. He escaped on foot, was spotted a couple of days later by United States Army engineers building a bridge, and was treated for severely frozen feet. He was awarded the Medal of Honor at a ceremony in Nuremberg, Germany, in April 1945. Mr. Dunham, a native of East Carondelet, Ill., worked as a Veterans Administration counselor after the war. In addition to his daughter, from his marriage to his first wife, Mary, which ended in divorce, Mr. Dunham is survived by a stepdaughter, Annette Wilson; a stepson, David Bazzell; his brothers Jim, Floyd and Junior; his sisters Josephine, Florence and Charlotte; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His second wife, Wilda, died in 2002. His brother Ralph survived the war and died years later. In a 1999 interview with The Alton Telegraph in Illinois, Mr. Dunham told how “the shrapnel in my leg is a reminder of the war we fought.” And a vivid image endured from that snowy hillside in France: “It happened in 1945, but I still remember staring into the eyes of the German machine-gunner.”
************************************************************************************************************************************************************ January 11, 2009 Lt. Gen. Harry W.O. Kinnard
Harry W. O. Kinnard, Who Said One Word Would Do, Dies at 93 Lt. Gen. Harry W. O. Kinnard, who inspired the storied retort “nuts” to a German surrender ultimatum during the Battle of the Bulge, died Monday in Arlington, Va. He was 93. His death was announced by his family. General Kinnard parachuted into Normandy in the first hours of D-Day. He received the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism during Operation Market Garden, the airborne attack in the German-occupied Netherlands. And he helped pioneer the airmobile concept, sending troops into combat aboard helicopters during the Vietnam War. But he was perhaps best remembered for what happened in December 1944 at the Belgian town of Bastogne, where the 101st Airborne Division, short on clothing and boots in a snowstorm and bitter cold, was surrounded by German troops. Bastogne, at the intersection of important roads, was a crucial objective for the Germans in their surprise attack in the Ardennes region of Belgium, an offensive that had created a “bulge” in Allied lines. On Dec. 22, two German officers approached the American lines in Bastogne carrying a demand that the American commander surrender his troops within two hours or face annihilation from an artillery barrage. The message was passed on to Brig. Gen. Anthony C. McAuliffe, acting as division commander while Maj. Gen. Maxwell D. Taylor was in Washington. General Kinnard, a lieutenant colonel at the time and the division’s operations officer, would recall that General McAuliffe “laughed and said: ‘Us surrender? Aw, nuts.’ ” As General Kinnard related it long afterward in an interview with Patrick O’Donnell, a military historian: “He pondered for a few minutes and then told the staff, ‘Well, I don’t know what to tell them.’ He then asked the staff what they thought, and I spoke up, saying, ‘That first remark of yours would be hard to beat.’ “McAuliffe said, ‘What do you mean?’ I answered, ‘Sir, you said, ‘Nuts.’ All members of the staff enthusiastically agreed. McAuliffe then wrote down: ‘To the German Commander, Nuts! The American Commander.’ ” The note was carried back to the German officers by Col. Joseph Harper, a regimental commander. The officers did not seem to understand it, so Colonel Harper told them, “If you don’t know what ‘nuts’ means, in plain English it is the same as ‘go to hell.’ ” The 101st held out, and four days later an American column broke through the German lines, lifting the siege. That response of “nuts” came to epitomize the grit of American soldiers in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds. Harry William Osborne Kinnard II, a native of Dallas, entered military service after graduating from West Point in 1939. Having fought extensively with the airborne, he oversaw a more modern way to get troops into combat quickly when he commanded the 11th Air Assault Division (Test), created at Fort Benning, Ga., in 1963 to develop the airmobile concept. That became the First Cavalry Division (Airmobile), and General Kinnard commanded it in November 1965 when it undertook the Army’s first major engagement of the Vietnam War, the Battle of the Ia Drang Valley. North Vietnamese casualties were heavy, but that encounter in the Central Highlands left more than 300 Americans dead and foreshadowed a long war of attrition. The battle was recounted in the 1992 book “We Were Soldiers Once ... And Young,” by Lt. Gen. Harold G. Moore and Joseph L. Galloway. General Kinnard retired from military service in 1969. He is survived by his wife, Libby; his sons, Crew and Robert; his daughters, Susan Payson, Kathleen Coursey and Cynthia Harmon; his stepdaughters, Libby Nicholson and Janmarie Hall; his stepson, Col. Tom Nicholson Jr.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. General McAuliffe became famed for the “nuts” reply, but sometimes grew weary of hearing the story retold. On one occasion, he thought he had a respite. “One evening a dear old Southern lady invited me to dinner,” he recalled. “I had a delightful time talking to her and her charming guests. I was pleased because no mention was made the entire evening of the ‘nuts’ incident. As I prepared to depart and thanked my hostess for an enjoyable evening, she replied, ‘Thank you and good night, General McNut.’ ” ************************************************************************************************************************ TWO GREAT LINKS FOR TWO OF MY FAVORITE ARMY LEADERS OF THE PAST (CLICK ON NAME): *ANOTHER FINE WEBSITE DEVOTED TO GENERAL PATTON IS LINKED HERE ***************************************************************** COLONEL DAVID HACKWORTH *A VERY NICE MEMORIAL DVD FEATURING COL.
